Bude is in the north-east corner of Cornwall. Close to the town are two sandy beaches with ample parking and good facilities - Summerleaze (right) and Crooklets (below). Bude has a well-deserved reputation as a relaxed and convenient resort for gentle, seaside family holidays.
Bude's beaches face west into the Atlantic and so provide excellent surfing conditions. The town has a strong and growing surf culture and Crooklets beach, in particular, offers some of the most interesting surf on the peninsula.
Bude also hosts an annual Jazz Festival, has its own carnival and triathlon.
Clearly, there is a lot going on in Bude itself but don't forget the surrounding area!
Bude nestles between two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty; to the south from the stunning Widemouth Bay to Port Isaac, to the north from Morwenstow to Clovelly.
Nearby, the A39 'Atlantic Highway' puts Barnstaple, Bideford, Clovelly, Hartland, Boscastle, Tintagel, Port Isaac, Camelford, Wadebridge, Rock, Padstow, Newquay and Truro, all within an hours reach by car.
